Following the Towns press release on August 2nd, 2022 and news stories that aired in the following days regarding the Balcarres Lab, Corey Miller, Vice President – Provincial Programs, SHA, provided the town with the following information on the equipment that is to be replaced at our facility. We plan to keep residents and facility users up to date as more equipment arrives, is validated and returns to service.

The Town of Balcarres invites applications for an Assistant Administrator. The position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and provides support for the CAO, Foreman and Council. At the June 21^st, 2022 regular monthly Council Meeting, Mayor Esplin handed in his resignation as he and his wife Karla have sold their house in town and are moving to the lake!

Mayor Esplin’s last day as Mayor was Thursday June 30^th, 2022.

First elected to the council table in 2009, Kent went on to serve 2 more terms as Councilor. In 2016, he was appointed Mayor and successfully filled that position until now.

At the same meeting, Councilman Korchinski was appointed as Acting Mayor, with Councilman Chatterson being appointed Deputy Mayor. Both effective July 1st, 2022.

The date for the by-election has be set for Wednesday November 9^th, 2022.

Nomination Day is Wednesday October 5^th, nominations can be submitted any time between Tuesday September 20^th, 2022 and the end of day on Nomination Day.
